SDCE’s newest partner Jimlab has taken on distribution throughout Mexico and Latin America, taking the business into previously unconquered territory and completing the company’s international presence across all five continents. General manager Jose Manuel Jimenez Ramirez reveals all about his plans for sales success, and the development of a brand that is already held in high esteem across his region.
From the very roots of its inception, strategy has been at the heart of Jimlab’s entire ethos. The specialist distributor set up its business just minutes from Mexico City in July 2012, selecting the location on account of the exits of the main highways for different states of the republic. A decade on, Jimlab is a well-regarded name across its country; proudly 100 per cent Mexican, and with a reputation based on the quality of the brands it represents.
“We have always strived to be a leading and recognised company across the whole of Latin America, offering comprehensive services and products of the highest quality which comply with international standards,” says general manager Jose Manuel Jimenez Ramirez. “We distribute equipment for quality control tests in different industries – mainly the textile, automotive, universities, laboratories and research centres – and have a strong relationship with international standards organisations AATCC and ASTM.”
Adding SDC Enterprises to its portfolio of brands completes Jimlab’s offer which, until recently, focused mainly on testing equipment from brand leaders such as Daelim Starlet Co., Testex Instruments and J.A King. SDCE’s collection of related consumables complements the range, guaranteeing testing professionals a comprehensive choice of quality solutions for standardised testing.
The partnership was established thanks to Jimlab’s first-hand experience as a customer of SDCE. Having bought products directly for five years, the company identified an opportunity to raise awareness of the brand to like-minded laboratories across Mexico and Latin America.
“We have always known that the SDCE brand has great potential,” says Ramirez. “I have been familiar with the brand for over 25 years, and know that it is a leading name for its reliability and precise results. It is a brand that our clients must buy in order to carry out their tests, and to offer results with international validity. The appeal is mainly to clients who are ISO-certified in Mexico, and need products that strictly comply with international standards.”
Jimlab estimates that it already supplies to around 85 to 90 per cent of testing specialists in Mexico, and has plans to increase its presence across neighbouring countries including Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica Panama and Colombia.
“We are confident that we can achieve 100 per cent sales success,” says Ramirez. “We have specialised personnel to serve these industries, and their function is not only to attend to our existing clients, but to search for and obtain new products for the continued growth of the business.”
Jimlab will make its first official appearance as SDCE’s official distributor at this year’s ITMA exhibition in Milan. Apply to attend the exhibition here, and find out more about Jimlab here.
